CLEVES CROSS WINS THE FINAL
Cleves Cross Primary School came from behind to win the Sedgefield Primary Basketball Festival and go forward to represent Sedgefield District in the Primay County Championships on Tuesday 16th March.
Four schools made it through to the semifinals.. Sedgefield Hardwick who were unbeaten went into the game favourites but Cleves Cross played with a tight defence and won the game 8 - 7. In the other semi-final Rosa Street took on West Cornforth and won 2 - 0. So it was Cleves Cross and Rosa Street in the final. Rosa Street had beaten Cleves Cross in an earlier round but Cleves Cross were now playing as a team using all their players and came away with a 6 - 3 victory. Scott Morton and Stephen Jones fresh from their Patrons Cup victory presented the medals, tickets and certificates to the teams.
The two finalists each received an invitation from the Wildcats to be Mascots at the home game on Sunday against Westminster Warriors and also demonstrate their basketball skills with an exhibition game at the half time.
