"Durham University Sport - Team Durham are proud to be linked with the Durham Wildcats. Over the last few years, our ties have formalised and now we work in partnership to promote excellence in both education and sport. Many of our student athletes represent both the University competitions and National League with shared success. Over the last two years the Men's 1st team has won their respective leagues and gained promotion to BUCS Northern Conference 1. The National League Team, consisting of no less than 8 University related players won Division 3 North in 2008/09 and gained promotion to Division 2. Our women also compete in the BUCS Conference 1 and in Division 1 of the Durham Local League and aspirations of National League status are underway.

Many of our players are involved in running the Wildcats community programme, including the Active WIldcats Health Programme roadshow. We see basketball as a great opportunity for student-athletes to work in a productive environment for them to grow as individuals and give something back.

Durham University Teams Gain Promotion

Congratulations to both the Mens Teams who won through on Wednesday night to gain promotion in their leagues.

Durham 1st team were playing the second of their play-off games. Having beaten Stirling University 80 - 107 they took on Warwick University at Maiden Castle. Right from the tip-off Durham came out firing all guns.. Scott tipped off to Stephen Jones then it was one pass and a slam dunk by Paul Elderkin. Within 5 minutes the Durham players had established a convincing lead and they went on to win 94 - 57. This ensure promotion up to the Premier North Division next year. The 1st Team now go through to the BUCS Championships where the best Universitys play over the 16/17th March ... We wish our boys the best of luck.

Durham Uni 1st Team

Straight after this game Durham University Men's 2nd Team coached by Team Wildcat player Adam Henderson took on Teeside University Men's 2nd Team in a game in which the Durham team needed to win to consolidate their place at the top ot their division and ensure promotion. Not to be outshone by their 1st team the seconds came out strong and tough with #14Sam Chambers scoring at will. The difference in level of play between the two teams was evident after the first 2 minutes when they lead 10 - 0 and with Teeside getting into foul trouble and losing one of their 7 players early in the secon quarter the win was never in question... just the score. At the final whistle it was 144 - 42 and no thats not a typing error!!
