Paul Nelson

Paul is the second Ivy League graduate to sign for the Wildcats for the 2010-11 season.

Hometown is Ridgewood, a village in Bergen County in the state of New Jersey –we’ve yet to find out if he’s a Nets fan. In our terms Ridgewood is a very big village having a population of 25,000.

Paul averaged 13.0points, 13.6 rebounds and 3.6 blocks at Ridgewood HS and was a McDonald’s All-American HS nominee.

The 6’ 10”, 230lbs Center, studied at Yale where he made 99 appearances, starting 19 games in his senior year.

Paul finished his college career with Ivy League top ten rankings for rebounding, 5th averaging 5.5rpg, and blocked shots, 7th.

Head coach Dave Elderkin spent long hours watching DVD and the more he saw the more he was impressed by Paul’s potential and his total commitment to the Yale team concept.

“I can see why Paul would get top ten rankings for rebounding and blocked shots, and if there was such a category, Paul would be the world leader for setting screens for team mates”Paul meets his new team mates on Thursday 2 September, and will have 1 week to fit in and be ready to play the Eagles on Friday 10 September.
